About My Lessons

I am a cello teacher committed to creating a positive and nurturing environment for learning and musical growth. Music has the potential to express that which lies dearest to our hearts. My cello instruction seeks to develop and expand the abilities present in each and every one of my students. We continually strive for musical and technical excellence, while recognizing the miracle that we are all unique. Individual lessons are tailored to bring out our strengths and to address our weaknesses in a caring and conscientious manner. Group lessons are devoted to creating a sense of community and understanding, as well as to celebrating in the joy of music making. Through kinship, listening, sharing, problem solving, and heart, the gift of music increases our capacities for bettering the world in which we live.

Amber’s thoughtful approach to the cello makes lessons fun and satisfying. When I began learning the instrument with her, I had music-making experience but no knowledge of stringed instruments, nor a child’s native ease in trying new things. With Amber’s creative and supportive teaching methods and her deep knowledge of the cello, she has helped me realize a new passion.

Weekly individual cello lessons for students of all ages and levels are offered alongside group classes, chamber music, and performance opportunities. I integrate elements of the Suzuki method, Creative Ability Development method, the Royal Conservatory curriculum, and draw upon my personal studies and experience as a cellist and performer to create a unique and well rounded system of teaching that is tailored to meet the interests of my students. There is currently a waiting list for new students who would like to join our cello studio.
