This selection is perfect for small ceremonies, engagements and elopements. The voice of the solo acoustic cello is absolutely stunning for a memorable bridal processional, a heartfelt performance during the signing of the registry, and a triumphant recessional. This instrumentation is also beautiful when it comes to a gentle and relaxing prelude to set the stage during guest arrival. It is the simplest option as it doesn’t require any special audio equipment or co-ordination with other musicians. I have both traditional wooden cellos and a modern carbon fibre instrument made by Luis & Clark. When there exists the possibility for inclement weather, I use the carbon fibre instrument as it is unaffected by the elements. Both have a gorgeous rich cello sound and will be suitable for a smaller wedding ceremony. This is the perfect choice for those wishing to keep things simple and elegant.

In my experience solo acoustic cello is not recommended for cocktail or dinner as it usually doesn’t carry well over the celebratory sounds of a party, and because it generally lacks the ability to perform multiple musical voices at one time.

Solo Electric Cello

Solo electric cello is definitely modern, versatile and perfect for parties! Through the use of custom backing tracks, this instrumentation option can allow for a wide range of repertoire to be performed, from ABBA to Beatles to Cranberries or ZZ Top, almost anything can be done! Through the use of electronics, one of the benefits of electric cello for your reception or dinner show is that the volume can be set to match the setting - meaning it can be just as loud (or quiet) as is appropriate.

Some additional considerations for this instrument involve the AV (Audio/Visual) setup. I am happy to work with your DJ if they can amplify my cello through their system, or for an additional fee, I can be responsible for providing my own modest scale amplification.
